☆PLAYER GRADE VINTAGE☆

Cushmic Sounds is pleased to offer on consignment this rather cool "Player Grade" vintage Fender Telecaster with Lake Placid Blue Nitro Lacquer body refinish, made in Fullerton, California, USA.

Now, I have noted this lovely thing as being a "Player Grade" vintage Tele, so let's get into the explanation and assessment.

Body:

The four-bolt "F" Neck Plate baring the serial number '290972' is indicative of being a 1970 Telecaster. After meticulous assessment, comparing countless online neck pocket stamps, markings, and codes from this era of Fender manufacturing, I can confirm this Telecaster body was produced in 1970 from either 2 or 3 pieces of solid Ash.

Neck:

Upon removal of the neck, the heel stamp (in green ink) reads '1303?515' which dates to the 51st week of 1975. There is also a faint (black ink) stamp with the name 'ARMENTA' which belongs to Xavier Armenta, a highly regarded craftsman who worked as a final neck sander and shaper who worked at Fender for decades, stretching from the early pre-CBS era (the 1950s) well into the CBS era of the 1970s.

Pickups and electronics:

After comparing various baseplates, flatwork, bobbins, and wiring, I believe the pickups to be original to this body. The 3-way switch and 'Noble 1M' volume pot are vintage Japanese replacements. Tone pot and caps are modern Japanese replacements. There is also a treble bleed cap added to the volume pot.

Hardware:

Original chrome "Ashtray" bridge with raised side walls, three grooved steel barrel saddles, and patent number stamp reading "FENDER PAT. NO. DES. 164,227 - 2,573,254".

Original chrome control plate with replacement knobs, vintage replacement German made Schaller Fender logo tuners, 2 vintage replacement string trees, 6 original string ferrules on the rear of the body, and 2 replacement strap buttons.
