Cushmic Sounds is pleased to offer this very rare and collectable Gibson Joe Perry Signature Les Paul from 1997 finished in beautiful Black Burst.
 
Manufactured from 1997 - 1999, these were produced in limited numbers and were made at a time when Gibson weren't producing that many signature models.
 
The design process for this signature model took almost two years to complete, after Gibson approached Joe, during which time his ideas were developed and refined many times over - concentrating on the electronics, the neck design, finish and hardware.
Joe's idea was to combine all the features of his favorite Les Paul's into one - such as the flametop of his 1960 Standard and the classic appeal of his Black Beauty Custom.
 
This beauty is 100% All Original, featuring all black hardware with eye catching Pearloid pickguard and matching truss rod cover and Joe's signature adorns the top, just behind the tailpeice.
 
The pickups feature a Gibson '57 Classic Humbucker in the neck position with the bridge pickup being custom wound to Joe Perry's specifications.
 
The controls offer 2 Volume as standard on most Les Pauls, but this beauty features an active mid-boost tone-shaping circuit, accessible with a push-pull pot, and master tone control. This mid-boost tone-shaping circuit is actually a wah circuit and allows for a whole new spectrum of altered tones as well as that trademark Les Paul grunt.
 
Now you might think this is just a studio model because obviously there is no binding, but this is actually a standard in disguise! The body is constructed from a solid peice of mahogany, the same thickness as a Les Paul Standard, weighing in at 3.85kg (8.48lbs) with a gorgeous two-peice flame maple top, chunky 50s style mahogany neck with dark rosewood fingerboard and topped off with beautiful figured inlays.
 
Serviced and setup with D'Addario 10-46 strings in E standard tuning, truss rod tested and adjusted (works as it should), frets are in excellent condition and have been cleaned and polished, fretboard cleaned and lightly oiled, all hardware cleaned and secured, intonation and action set, electronics cleaned and tested.
 
NOTE: The bridge volume pot is slightly scratchy. It still works, and instead of replacing it I'd rather keep the guitar All Original and leave it up to the new owner to decide what they'd like to do.
 
There are various scratches, scrapes and dents but for a 25 year old guitar, it's in very good condition. No breaks or structural cracks. There is a fair amount of laquer checking on the headstock, quite common for that era of gibson but nothing to worry about.
 
Comes with Original Gibson USA Hardshell Case, Gibson USA Certificate (COA), Joe Perry Les Paul Electronics sheet and blank Gibson USA warranty booklet. I have also included a clipping from Guitar World Magazine's August issue from 1997 that I laminated for safe keeping. This clipping is from my personal collection, but I thought it would be a nice touch to include with the sale.
