For those who aren't aware, I play lead guitar in Australia's Ultimate Creedence Clearwater Revival 'Proud Mary' and this beauty has been one of my main guitars for the past 5 years. During this time, it has been tuned a full step down to DGCFAD for songs like Proud Mary, Fortunate Son, Bad Moon Rising, Heard It Through The Grapevine, Ramble Tamble etc.
I'm guessing you're wondering why I'm selling? Well, It's been a great guitar but it's quite heavy, so I have decided to move it on and find a slightly lighter version. Believe me, I loved this guitar when I acquired it, but it's just starting to annoy me on stage after about 40mins or so, but hey! some people like these heavier beasts, so it's up for grabs!
Now, down to specs; Weighing in at 4.9kg (10.8lbs) with a solid, 1-piece, non-weight relieved Mahogany body, 3-piece Maple top, 1-piece Mahogany thin "C" shape neck, Ebony fretboard with beautiful Mother-of-pearl inlays, 22 original frets, and original nut.
As for the electronics; This baby has almost been totally gutted. It originally came with Bill Lawrence 'The Original' humbuckers, but they weren't the greatest sounding pickups, so they had to go!
Since then, I have been through a couple of different sets and landed on its current set of Gibson Burstbucker 1 & 2 humbuckers from 2009 & 2011.
Pickup outputs;
Neck: 7.57k
Bridge: 8.16k
She's also received four replacement 500k CTS pots, Orange Drop caps, and wiring. The original input jack and 3-way switch are still in place and working perfectly.
As for the hardware, I had installed a set of Grover tuners with Tulip buttons for aesthetic purposes only. The original Grovers that came with the guitar are now back in place and function perfectly, albeit a little pitted and worn looking.
A replacement Nashville tune-o-matic bridge has been added sometime during my ownership, and the original stop bar tailpiece is still in place.
All plastics are original.
Comes with its original Gibson "Chainsaw" Hardshell Case with plush blue interior. All latches are in perfect working order.
Serviced and setup here at Cushmic Sounds with D'Addario 11-52 strings in Eb tuning, frets cleaned and polished, fretboard cleaned and lightly oiled, electronics working perfectly, truss rod adjusted and works as it should, all hardware cleaned and secured.
Frets are in very good condition, with the exception of minor wear on the first three. It had a fret level about two years ago and won't require any work for some time to come as playability is excellent.
Overall condition is "Player Grade". She's beat up, there are various knocks, bumps, bruises, scrapes, scratches, and dings; most notably on the headstock face as the laquer shows quite a bit of checking, the upper front of the body from my strumming arm shows some knocks and dings, and the under-side of the neck shows some binding has come away from the fret ends; this was there at the time of my purchase and has not bothered me at all, the frets have not moved
Good news; This beauty is repair free!
I'll be sad to see this go. It's one solid, heavy, tough piece of machinery that I hope will be enjoyed by the next owner.
