☆VINTAGE NORLIN ERA☆
☆MODIFIED☆
Cushmic Sounds is pleased to offer this ridiculously cool Vintage 1973 Norlin era Gibson Les Paul Custom, finished in Cherry Sunburst - Frank Zappa, anyone?
Serial #184691
Weighing in at a comfortable 4.3kg (9.5lbs) with the infamous "Pancake" construction Mahogany/Maple/Mahogany back, 3-piece Maple top, comfortable 3-piece thin "C" shape Mahogany neck, Ebony fingerboard with Mother-of-pearl Block inlays, 22 replacement frets and what looks to be the original nut reinstalled.
Modifications:
• Pro refret
• Gibson '57 Classic PAF humbuckers (Dated 18/07/2011)
• Shaller 1970s Gibson logo tuners (Made in Germany)
• Gotoh Japan Nashville-style bridge with replacement studs & posts.
• Gotoh Stopbar tailpiece
• Replacement gold output jack plate
• Added amber switch tip
• 2 added coil split switches (these have been disconnected with the addition of the '57 Classic Humbuckers)
Now let's talk about these glorious sounding '57 Classic PAF humbuckers... Actually, there's nothing more to say. They sound quite amazing in this guitar!
All original electronics with CTS pots, Good-All caps, input jack, wiring and 3-way switch.
Pickup outputs:
Neck: 8.17k
Bridge: 8.51k
Pot Codes: 1377344
137 = CTS Manufacturer Code
73 = Year
44 = Week of year
All original plastics with the exception of the previously mentioned amber switch tip.
Comes with its original Gibson Hardshell Case with lovely plush interior, all working latches, lock and handle.
Truss rod wrench also included.
Serviced and setup here at Cushmic Sounds with D'Addario 10-46 strings in E standard tuning, frets cleaned and polished, fretboard cleaned and lightly oiled, electronics cleaned, tested and working perfectly, truss rod adjusted and works as it should, all hardware cleaned and secured.
Replacement frets are in excellent condition so playability is superb.
Overall condition is 6/10. There is heavy wear on the back of the body and neck, scratches and scrapes throughout, the gold hardware is faded, there is a crack in the bass side of the bridge pickup mounting ring and the treble side of the neck pickup mounting ring.
All original paint with no touch-ups, no structural damage, cracks, breaks or repairs.
NOTE: There is some questionable routing in the neck pickup cavity. It's definitely not Gibson's doing, but I will say they did some crazy stuff in the 70s. After all, these weren't yet considered "collectors items" but rather "tools of the trade" and it looks like this beauty was someone's favourite workhorse.
