Cushmic Sounds is pleased to offer this very cool, vintage 1973 Gibson SG Standard in Walnut finish.

Weighing in at a comfortable 3.4kg (7.6lbs) with a 1-piece Mahogany body, a narrow 3-peice Mahogany neck with comfortable 'C' shape, Ebony fretboard with 12" radius, beautiful mother-of-pearl block inlays and original Bone nut.

Nut width = 38mm

12th fret = 50mm

This baby has been refretted only once in its life and was done some years ago. Yes, there is some fret wear, most notably on the first five frets, there is also a gouge at the 18th fret under the 'G' string (unsure what that is from) and these frets are quite low but none of this affects playability - she plays beautifully!

Featuring its original pair of superb sounding Gibson 'Tar-back' humbuckers that read 7.62k in the bridge position and 7.39k in the neck position.

All original electronics, CTS pots, 3-way switch, input jack, caps, wiring and shielding.

Pot Code breakdown;

137 = CTS

73 = Year of manufacture

25 = Week of year

All original plastics, original knobs, original 'harmonica' style tune-o-matic bridge and original Gibson logo tuners.

NOTE: There are four (filled) holes on the face of the body that indicate a Bigsby was in place at some point, so I can't confirm if the Tailpiece is original - it does have some weight and is well made so I'll assume it's a genuine Gibson replacement part.

NOTE: I have added a replacement black switch tip and replaced all five screws on the backplate.

Overall condition is fair and if she could talk, I'm sure she could tell a few stories. There are bumps and scrapes, buckle rash on the back, discolouration under the volume and tone controls from years of gigs and sweat - this beauty was loved and enjoyed.

NOTE: There are some cracks between the tuners on the treble side on the back of the headstock (see photos), I have used a syringe to get some glue in there as best I can. Nothing is moving and everything looks secure.

There is some checking around the back of the neck joint but it's not structural, so nothing to worry about.

There is also a noticeable scratch at the 'E' string post which is only superficial. It's definitely not a crack in the wood so nothing to worry about.

Comes with a Custom made Aerolyte brand Road Case from the 1980s made in Melbourne, Australia. All latches and handle are fully functional. A leather Strap and Jim Dunlop Straplocks are also included.

Serviced and setup here at Cushmic Sounds with D'Addario 10-46 strings, frets cleaned and polished, fretboard cleaned and lightly oiled, intonation and action set, truss rod tested and works as it should, electronics cleaned, tested and in working order (bridge tone pot is a little scratchy, but is functional), all hardware cleaned and secured.
