Cushmic Sounds is pleased to offer on consignment this Ultra Cool, Ultra Rare and Collectable Univox Hi-Flier Phase III model from 1976, made in Japan and refinished to replicate Kurt Cobain's refinished original 1970s model.

Definitely one for the Nirvana fans, this Univox Hi-Flier is a stunning replica of Kurt Cobain's original that he destroyed at Nirvana's show at the now closed Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey on July 13th, 1989. From what I have read, the original guitar had been (apparently) refinished by Kurt and was the second or third of his Univox guitars but is famously known for being the first of his many smashed guitars!

The original guitar was sold to an anonymous buyer at Julien's Auctions in 2016 for a reported US$56,250.
 
Weighing in at 3.17kg (6.98lbs) with a solid 2-piece Maple body, 1-piece Maple neck and fingerboard with 10" radius, 21 frets and what looks to be a Bone nut.
 
Nut width: 39mm
Fingerboard width at 12th fret: 50mm
 
Featuring it's original set of Roaring humbuckers, 3-way switch, 500k pots and capacitor.
 
Controls: 1 Master Volume, 1 Master Tone.
 
Pickup outputs:
Neck: 6.86K
Bridge: 7.13K
 
Hardware consists of a 6-saddle roller bridge with thumb wheels for easy height adjustment and a Jazzmaster-style tremolo assembly tailpeice with original tremolo arm.
 
Original set of tuners are smooth, sturdy and in great working order.
 
Pickguard & Truss Rod Cover: 4-ply
 
Comes with an Armour brand Hardshell Case with key, replica guitar strap and a photo of Kurt with his original Univox Hi-Flier at a 1989 performance.
 
Serviced and setup here at Cushmic Sounds with D'Addario 10-46 strings, frets cleaned and polished, fretboard cleaned, intonation and action set, truss rod tested and works as it should, electronics cleaned, tested and working perfectly, all hardware cleaned and secured.
 
Original frets are on the lower side but are in great condition and playability is excellent!
